Indian culture is more than 5000 years old. Indian sages and scientists have contributed a lot of valuable information to the Indian people, out of which one such treasure is Ayurveda. Ayu means life and Veda means science. Therefore Ayurveda is the science of life. Practicing this science our sages lived a very long and healthy life. Acidity

  •     Dos
  1.     Boiled & then cooled water, bitter gourd, striped pear gourd (parval), pot herb (tandarja ni bhaji), cauli flower, cabage, bottle gourd, fenu greek leaves, cluster beans, ridge gourd can be taken seasoned in ghee not edible oil.
  2.     Pomegranate, amla (Indian goose berry), chickoo, apple, sweet apple, dried grapes, fennel, sugar, cumin seed.
  3.     All articles prepared from six month old barley, green grams, wheat and rice can be taken.
  4.     Regular long walk, deep breathing and yogasana.
  •     Donts
  1.     Not to take any preparation from tomatoes like soup, sauce, ketchup, salad etc.
  2.     Not to sleep during day time. To go to bed early at night and not to wake till late nights.
  3.     Not to take any fermented items like curd, handvo, dhokla, breads, sand witches, bun, khaman, idli, dhosa etc.
  4.     Not to take tea, coffee, coco, betel nut, tobacco, pan masala, alchoholic drinks and smoking prohibited.

Epilepsy

  •     Dos
  1.     Whole body massage with til oil , mustard oil or olive oil and then take bath with hot water or lukewarm water.
  2.     Can take milk, old ghee and edible oil.
  3.     To read and hear the book of religion and philosophy. So that the frequency can be decreased, on account of increase of the patience and politeness and discretionary power.
  4.     All preparation from rice, wheat, green peas can be taken --- pear gourd, drum stick, black grapes, amla (Indian goose berry), pomegranate.
  •     Donts
  1.     Some edible articles are clean but not pure. Such articles should not be taken.
  2.     Sea food, leafy vegetables, tinda, cucumber, any fruits with milk, milk with jaggery, milk with onions & garlic.
  3.     No excessive sex and exercise.
  4.     No tension, grief, fear, anger, any one of them increases the intensity and frequency of disease.

Cough

  •     Dos
  1.     Sauna bath, steam bath, milk of she- goat and old ghee.
  2.     To take hot water, can sleep during day time.
  3.     Rice, wheat, barley can be taken. Soup of black gram, green gram, horse gram and barley can be taken.
  4.     Brinjal, small- soft radish, radish, tinda, cardamom, honey, garlic can be taken.
  5.     Cow’s urine treatment can cure cough.
  •     Donts
  1.    Not to take nasal drops, enema, blood donation.
  2.    No sunbath, no more physical exercise, polluted air, containing dust and smoke.
  3.    Not to take sea food, potatoes, mustard, bottle-gourd, cold drinks, sweets, onion with milk, jaggery and fruits with milk.
  4.    Ground nut increases cough.

Gout

  •     Dos
  1.     Take milk of cow, buffalo and she –goat.
  2.     Pot herb (Tandarjani bhaji), fenugreek, striped pear gourd (parval), bitter gourd vegetables, seasoned with cow’s ghee or butter.
  3.     All edible preparations made from black grapes, sugar, rice, wheat and barley.
  4.     Take caster oil one or two table spoon with hot cow’s milk on an empty stomach in the morning. Caster oil should not be taken during pregnancy and by the patient of tuberculosis.
  •     Donts
  1.     Not to sleep during day time, no more exercise and sex.
  2.     Not to seat near fire, do not take sun bath, not to eat sea food, red meat, white meat, curd, radish, black gram, horse gram, kidney beans, green peas.
  3.     Not to eat spicy and sour, oily and salty food.
  4.     Not to smoke cigarette and alchoholic drinks.

Vomiting

  •     Dos
  1.     To apply and rub scented paste of ones liking on skin, to take bath, to hear music, to take smell of fragrant flowers, to walk in the moonlight.
  2.     To start with observing fast, there after to take soup of rice, when you feel hungry.
  3.     Green gram, rice, barely, green peas and honey can be taken.
  4.     Sweet drink of fennel, sugar, black grapes, green grapes, pome grade, Indian goose berry (Amla), ripe mango, cold coconut water.
  •     Donts
  1.     Don’t watch scenes and pictures of horror.
  2.     Don’t eat any thing till the vomiting sensation gets over.
  3.     Don’t take beans, tinda, ridge gourd, mushroom, mustard.
  4.     Don’t take fruits and jaggery with milk.
  5.     Don’t put nasal drops, don’t take enema, do not apply any ointment in the eyes.

Bleeding Piles

  •     Dos
  1.     More than six months old rice, cooked in milk with sugar (Khir), Hotpotch  (Khichdi), pullao, etc, soup of black gram, yellow grams,
  2.     Milk of she-goat, stops bleeding of the piles.
  3.     Pot herb ( Tanderjani Bhaji ), striped pear gourd (Parval), Tinda, Bottle gourd, vegetables etc, banana, dates, Amla ( Indian gooseberry), coconut, water melon, green and black grapes, fruits etc.
  4.     Tub bath, shower bath, playing water games, to stay in cellars, to live in cold caves, to sit at the sandy bank of the river in the morning & late evening.
  •     Donts
  1.      Do not walk, do not do physical exercise and hard work.
  2.      Avoid sunbathing, steam bath, sauna bath, smoke, take tobacco, in any form like pan masala, Gutkha, Alchoholic drinks.
  3.      Avoid sexual intercourse, as it is likely to increase bleeding.
  4.      Avoid horse gram (Kalathi), Jaggery, curd, brinjal, til, black gram (Udad), green peas, long beans.
  5.      Do not donate blood.

Diarrhoea

  •     Dos
  1.     Don't eat till you feel hungry and sleep well.
  2.     Eat one table spoon thrice a day of a mixture of sugar and powered coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
  3.     Include curds, buttermilk, fresh butter, rice, lentils(tuver) soup, pomegranate, rose apple, ginger, dried ginger, honey in your diet.
  4.     Drink cooled boiled water .
  •     Donts
  1.     Avoid sauna bath, steam bath, oil massage, swimming, blood donation, sexual intercourse, drinking contaminated water, wheat, barley, white gram, potato, drumsticks, sweet gourd, white pumpkin, leafy vegetables, cucumber and sweets .
  2.     Do not take mangoes, grapes, fruit salad, garlic, sugarcane, jaggery, coconut, salty and sour things.
  3.     Do not eat betel leaves.

Sex Debility

  • Dos
  1.     Sex goes hand in hand with love.
  2.     Sex cannot be enjoyed without love.
  3.     Prepare soup made from white gram and add 0.50 gram of dry ginger powder and 5 gm butter. This increases sexual powers.
  4.     Daily intercourse during spring is advisable.
  5.     Water bath, oil massage, betel  leaves, thunder, rain, thinking of your lover, moonlight, music and delights of nature increases sexual desires.
  •     Donts
  1.     Fear is the main enemy of sex. Therefore during intercourse the mind should be free from fear.
  2.     If you are suffering from weakness avoid sex for at least one month.
  3.     Avoid sex tonics and sex hormones as it leads to impotency.
  4.     Smoking, tobacco, alcohol leads to lack of prowess.

Anemia

  •     Dos
  1.     Eat items made from six months old barley, wheat, rice, also eat green gram, lentils(tuver).
  2.     Eat pointed gourd, brinjal, tinda, ginger, garlic, turmeric, buttermilk, ghee ,butter, oil, Indian gooseberry.
  3.     5- 10 ml of cow's urine taken daily in the morning increases R.B.C.
  4.     Drink cow's milk with saffron .
  •     Donts
  1.     Smoking, blood donation, steam bath, sauna bath, sexual intercourse, decreases blood cells.
  2.     Do not eat black gram, peas, pulses, asafoetida , mustard seeds and heavy food.
  3.     Do not sleep during the daytime.
  4.     Avoid alcohol.
  5.     Eating soil, excessive calcium and drinking polluted water decreases blood cells.

Loss of Appetite


  •     Dos
  1.     Exercising, walking and dancing increases appetite.
  2.     Cook rice in plenty of water and then drain. This rice can be eaten.
  3.     Season green gram soup with pure ghee, asoefoetida, salt ginger, ajwain, black pepper, cumin seeds and coriander seeds.
  4.     Appetite can be increased by eating _soft radish, garlic, drumsticks, striped pear gourd, brinjal, bitter gourd, raw banana, ginger, amla, orange, pomegranate, lime, butter milk, fresh butter, curds, different pickles, dhokla, handva.
  5.     Drink warm water.
  6.     Eat  betel leave with fennel, sinemon  clove, cardamom.
  •     Donts
  1.     Avoid eating any type of sprouts, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
  2.     Eat less of items made from wheat flour like biscuits, bread, bun etc.
  3.     Do not eat milk products like cheese, mava.
  4.     Avoid drinking too much of water frequently.
  5.     Do not drink sherbets.
  6.     Avoid eating snacks between meals.
  7.     Do not  eat when you are angry, mentally disturbed, not hungry.

Piles

  •     Dos
  1.     Purgative should be taken for clearing the bowel.
  2.     Sit in a hot water tub.
  3.     Take rice, pointed gourd, garlic, dried ginger, butter, buttermilk, indian gooseberry (amla)and salt.
  4.     Have soup made from barley and horse gram and alcohol in limited quantity can be taken.
  5.     Taking cow's urine and camel's milk is equivalent to taking medicines.
  6.     Eat more vegetables.
  •     Donts
  1.     Avoid red meat, white meat and seafood.
  2.     Do not take enema.
  3.     Sunbathing is not advisable.
  4.     Avoid drinking water frequently.
  5.     Avoid excessive sex, it increases pain in piles.

Obesity

  •     Dos
  1.     Drink warm water during the whole day.
  2.     Eat only once a day which will help in faster weight loss.
  3.    Before meals have soup made from barley, horse  green gram, lentils(tuver), corn, carrot, cabbage, sweet gourd and spinach or thinned buttermilk.
  4.     Fasting, exercising, worrying, sex, sunbathing, walking helps in weight loss.
  •     Donts
  1.     Do not drink too much water after meals.
  2.     Do not completely fill your stomach with food.
  3.     Eat in lesser quantities.
  4.     Do not oversleep or over rest.
  5.     Avoid eating too much of milk and sugar products.

Diabetes

  •     Dos
  1.     Regular walks and exercise is essential.
  2.     Soup made from green gram, yellow gram, lentils (tuver), black gram, barley can be taken.
  3.    Unripe banana, honey, dates, jaman, watermelon, drumsticks, pointed gourd, kankoda, garlic, sesame, old wheat, buttermilk can be taken.
  •     Donts
  1.     Do not sleep during the daytime.
  2.     Avoid steam baths and sunbaths.
  3.     Avoid excessive sexual activities.
  4.     Do not smoke.

Insomnia

  •     Dos
  1.     For dinner have rice, sugar crystals and things made from milk and ghee.
  2.     A whole body oil massage induces sleep.
  3.     Take regular walks.
  4.     Meditate and do deep breathing regularly.
  5.     Massage soles of the feet with ghee made from cow's milk.
  •     Donts
  1.     Do not sleep during the day time.
  2.     Avoid activities of stress and strain.
  3.     Avoid tea/coffee/smoking after evening.
  4.     Do not do anything which will hurt the feelings of others.

Heart Diseases

  •     Dos
  1.     Eat black grapes, bananas, mangoes, pomegranate, radish, coriander, ginger, garlic, ajwain, old jaggery, rock salt.
  2.     Have buttermilk and home made sherbets.
  3.     Have green gram soup.
  4.     Eat betel leaves.
  •     Donts
  1.     Avoid cold drinks, tea, coffee, betel nuts, things made from cocoa.
  2.     Along with milk avoid taking fruits, garlic, onions, radish, black gram lentils and jaggery.
  3.     Do not take honey in summer.
  4.     Do not eat stale food especially leafy vegetables.
  5.     Do not drink impure water and sheep's milk.

Allergic Urticaria

  •     Dos
  1.     Eat more of bitter gourd, drum sticks, radish and pomegranate.
  2.     Massage body with mustard oil and bathe with hot water.
  3.     Consume one teaspoon of honey daily.
  4.     Take soup made from green gram and horse gram.
  •     Donts
  1.     Avoid drinking milk and eating milk products like, curds, cottage cheese, butter, cheese, etc.
  2.     Avoid consumption of any sweets made from sugar and sweetened drinks.
  3.     Avoid all types of seafood.
  4.     Do not sleep during the daytime.
  5.     Do not bathe in common pools and avoid sunbathing.

Hairfall

  • Dos
  1.     Drink milk regularly
  2.     Oil Hair regularly
  3.     Rub ghee made from cow's milk on the soles of the feet.
  4.     Apply coconut water on hair.
  •  Donts
  1.     Do not wash hair with hot water.
  2.     Avoid eating spicy food.
  3.     Hairwash with shampoo /soap should not be taken daily, wash hair only after an oil massage.
  4.     Hair should not be dried with a hair dryer.
  5.     Do not use hair dye and hair spray.
